To read last month’s Play! Box review you can click here. Play! By Sephora is a $10 a month subscription box—similar to Ipsy and Birchbox. Up until this month I’ve received really great products I’ve been more than happy with. This month wasn’t nearly as good, but hopefully next month’s box will be better. I’m ready to try out some Spring products!

PRODUCTS REVIEW:

Product Goodies!
1.) CLINIQUE Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer

Size & Price: Received Sample Size (0.24 oz). Full size (1.7 oz) retails for $29.50.
What it is: A lightweight, oil-free moisturizer-meets-primer instantly blurs imperfections while providing all-day hydration for a silky, soft-focus finish.
My thoughts: I like that it’s a moisturizer and primer in one! It absorbs pretty quickly into the skin, and hides pores well. I’ll most likely buy a full sized version of this product because it’s amazing!

2.) NARS Velvet Lip Glide in the color BOUND

Size & Price: Received Deluxe Sample (0.07 oz). Full size (0.2 oz) retails for $26.00.
What it is: A stay-all-day liquid lipstick that applies easily and leaves a semi-matte finish with a silky feel.
My thoughts: I adore the slick packaging. The color is rose pink (mauve) color. I like that’s it’s semi matte. I used to enjoy matte lipsticks, but I found most of them to be very drying. This is a good lipstick to try if you want a matte color without it feeling to dry on your lips.

3.) Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy

Size & Price: Received Deluxe Sample (0.03 oz). Full size (0.14 oz) retails for $22.00.
What it is: A sheer tinted gloss uses a botanical-infused formula to visibly plump lips instantly while also hydrating and softening over time.
My thoughts: Awhile back I received the clear version of this gloss from Ipsy. I kind of love it, but hate it at the same time. I hate it because it stings. After a few seconds of applying it your lips will tingle! It defintaely adds a little plump to your lips, so that’s why I like it. Don’t expect to go from pre Kylie injection lips to fully plump lips. This isn’t surgery it’s makeup.

4.) Origins GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream

Size & Price: Received Sample Size (0.17 oz). Full size (0.5 oz) retails for $30.00.
What it is: A luminous eye cream infused with coffee beans, ginseng, and magnolia extract to visibly brighten and depuff the under-eye area.
My thoughts: I’ve been applying this in the morning and at night for three days in a row. I don’t notice much of a difference to my under eye area, though. I’ll probably have to continue using it until it runs out and see if I notice a difference then.

5.) SEPHORA COLLECTION LashCraft Length & Volume Mascara

Size & Price: Received STANDARD SIZE (0.33 oz) worth $12.
What it is: A jet-black volumizing mascara with an innovative flat paddle-shaped wand to lengthen and lift lashes.
My thoughts: The way the wand is designed makes it easier to apply the mascara to the eyelashes, and it doesn’t clump. I found the formula of the mascara to be a bit too heavy for my naturally straight eyelashes. My natural eyelashes have zero curl to them, so I’m extremely picky when it comes to mascara formula.

6.) *Fragrance Bonus*  Marc Jacobs Fragrances Divine Decadence

Size & Price: Received  (0.04 oz). Rollerball (0.34 oz) retails for $29.00.
What it is: Effervescent, floral, and bright, this sparkling, champagne-doused scent is the embodiment of luxury and glamour.
My thoughts: I like these little sample perfumes especially when I get a good one that smells like heaven because then I can throw it in my bag without it taking up any room.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

Not too bad. Not a huge fan of the mascara. It’s kind of a bummer when you get such a small sample of something that you feel it’s not enough to really try out the product. I don’t like to waste money on a full size product without knowing it’s going to work first that’s why I love discovering and trying out deluxe samples.

  • I love Origins. Really great products, I don’t know why I stopped using them –probably because they were expensive lol! $10 a month isn’t bad, I would love that Lip Injection Lip gloss by too faced. I recently subscribed to FabFitFun. There was a $15 off coupon and I just had to take it!

    • I don’t know why but I just saw this (need to turn on notifications lol). Do you like FabFitFun? I see a lot of people ranting about it but I’m kind of iffy about it.

      • It’s an okay box! I picked the Editor’s Box so I got to know what was in the box prior. I might get another box in the future, but only if I know that there’s something I would definitely use in it. Otherwise it’s kinda expensive!!
