I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy for five months now, so I think it’s time to an overall update on how I like the company and the samples they’re sending me.

I recently subscribed to Birchbox as well, so for June I will be comparing both of the monthly subscription beauty boxes!

I’ve received a total of 20 products (I’m not counting this months five products) with 9 of the products being full size and 11 being sample sizes.

I’m going to quickly recap on the products that I have used and am still using or have completely used up. I will also talk about the products that I have rarely even touched.

I think it’s a good idea to keep track of how many samples you’re receiving and how many of the products you actually use and like! Even though it is only $10 a month if you’re getting products you don’t like or aren’t using, then it’s just a waste of money.

Products I’m loving!

Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush 504

I received this full size angled brush in my February ipsy glam bag. I use this brush every time I apply my blush. I love it! The only other angled brush I had prior to this was a cheap E.L.F one. I wash my brushes once a week, and it’s well withstood the washes. I love that it still feels just as soft as when I got it!

Hikari Cosmetics Blush

I received this full size blush in the shade tango in my April ipsy glam bag. Ever since I got it I’ve been using it. The color is gorgeous and the color pay off is great and it doesn’t fade or oxidize into my skin. I’ve almost hit pan on it! 🙁

Briogeo Rosarco Milk™ Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray

You can’t tell from the picture because the lighting is so bright, but I’ve used almost all of this. I received this in my May ipsy glam bag, and I was so excited to try it because I’m a hug fan of Briogeo products. I really liked it, and I usually hate leave in conditioners because they make my hair greasy, but this doesn’t do that at all. It was just a small sample size product, so I’m definitely going to purchase the full size product!

CAILYN Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint

This full size matte tint was also in my bag last month. I loved the watermelon pink color and it lasted most of the day as a tint should. I’m actually almost out of it, but I don’t think I will be purchasing it on my own just because its a bit too pricey. There’s some good drug store dupes out there I would rather buy.

theBalm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single

I received this sample shadow in the shade flirty that’s from the Nude Dude Palette in my April ipsy glam bag. I’ve actually pretty much used it all! There’s only a tiny bit left 🙁 I just kept it because I really like the packaging. The color was beautiful and I had no creasing problems at all with this. I really want to get the whole Nude Dude palette, but all the colors are a similar mash up to the Urban Decay Naked 2 and 3 which I already own. I’m trying to only purchase beauty products I don’t already have or really need.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better® CC+® Cream with SPF 50+

I received a sample size of this in my May ipsy glam bag. I’ve used just about all of it. There’s probably one more wear (maybe even two if I really squeeze or cut the tube) I can get out of it. This by far is my ultimate favorite product that ipsy has sent me. I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time, but didn’t want to purchase the full size because of the price, and I wasn’t sure how my skin would react.

For a CC cream it has amazing coverage! The formula is super easy to blend and lasts all day long! I absolutely loved the way this went on my skin and the way it looked. I almost purchased this except I noticed after a week of using this it broke me out really bad on my cheeks. I never break out on my cheeks. I stopped using the Jojoba oil with it thinking it was the jojo oil breaking me out, but nope the acne got even worse. It was especially bad after I would remove the CC cream at night. I’m not quite sure what it is (I’m thinking the snail oil), but whatever it is my skin did not like it.

I’m disappointed because this CC cream was everything I could of ever hoped for (except the breaking out), but oh well. I’m glad I got a sample. Imagine if I had bought a full size product it would have been a waste of product and money.

LATHER ultra light face lotion ( not pictured)

I received a sample size of this in my April ipsy glam bag. I used it all that’s why it’s not pictured because I threw the little bottle away once I ran out. I DID NOT like this moisturizer to wear under my makeup it was way too greasy, but I did find out that on my makeup free days it looked great. On the days wear I wouldn’t wear makeup (which was and is most days) I would wear this moisturizer. I loved it because it didn’t irritate my skin or break me out.

Products I don’t find myself using because I DON’T like them! (none pictured)

ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder

I received this full size blush in my February ipsy glam bag. At first I liked it. It is a pretty pink color that appeared to be very pigmented, but every time I would wear it within a few hours it would oxidize into my skin. Then it looked as if I hadn’t even applied blush. I’m not happy with this product at all!

NYX Cosmetics Slim Eye Pencil

I received this full size eye pencil in my February ipsy glam bag. I like NYX products and I like their silm eye pencils. I just didn’t like that ipsy sent me a silver shade. Although it is pretty I’ve only used it twice since getting it. I just don’t find it wearable for an every day look.

Coolway Glow Oil Treatment

I received a sample size of this in my March ipsy glam bag. I hated it when I first got it and I still hate it now. I hate the formula. It makes my hair way too greasy, and it does nothing for it. It’s just sitting in my hair drawer with all by brushes ad hair ties collecting dust I guess…

Jor’el Parker Femina

I received a sample size of this in my April ipsy glam bag. I didn’t like the scent then and I still don’t like it now. It’s too sweet and flowery for my taste. I really hope I don’t continue to get perfume samples. I’m not a fan of perfume samples. I especially don’t like the roller ball applicator on this.

Eylure Naturals No.020 Strip Lashes.

I received a pair of these lashes in my May ipsy glam bag. I did NOT like them whatsoever. They were way too small for my taste. They did not go to waste, though. I gave them to my mom, and she liked them a lot.

Overall Impressions of Ipsy

I’m pretty pleased with all the samples ipsy has sent me. There’s been some great hits, and of course misses. I don’t expect to love every product I get. I like to be able to try and sample out different brands and products. It’s fun. I’m a beauty junkie. I can’t help it.

I’m going to continue my ipsy subscription through the year, and I can’t wait to compare it to Birchbox! I’ll do another overrall ipsy product update again in November or December too see if I still think the $10 a month is worth it.
