About 6 weeks ago I had a  minor non surgical treatment done known as “Coolsculpting.” I’ve read a lot about the procedure, watched some YouTube videos, and did a lot of research before finally taking the leap.

I wanted to share my honest review on Coolsculpting because I’m thrilled about my results and experience overall that I feel the need to share it.

What is Coolsculpting:

From the Coolsculpting website…”The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure is the only FDA-cleared,* non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise.”

Price & Place:

Most consultations are free. Price will vary depending on the size of the area you want fat eliminated. Usually one area is anywhere from $500-900. Take into account if you have very stubborn fat you may need more than one coolsculpting treatment, so take that into account.

I went to The Plastic Surgery Center in Granite Bay, California (I trust this place a great deal as Dr.Coscia works here and he did my breasts and nose.) Janice McKenzie was the nurse who assisted me during my consultation and worked the machine during my procedure. Definitely make sure wherever you go that the staff is certified and trained in working with the equipment!

I knew I was the perfect candidate for this! Liposuction would be overkill on my tiny frame. I am tall 5’10 but weigh 120 lbs. I was not looking to lose anymore weight. I just wanted my love handles diminished. I can only go so hard on my diet and exercise, so yes I took the easy way out. Total first world problems, I know. It’s recommended for people who are close to their target weight or have stubborn pocket areas of fat. It’s not a weight loss surgery miracle. If you are overweight don’t expect to come out looking like a supermodel that’s what liposuction and a tummy tuck are for. I really think that the people who complain the most about the procedure not working are the ones who have unrealistic expectations.

During the treatment:

The nurse will prep your skin with this gooey honey like substance, then you have to lay in a position where the machine can suction correctly. Once it’s in place you’ll feel the machine get cold while sucking your fat rolls. It wasn’t painful per se it was more of an odd sensation and feeling of being uncomfortable. I felt like a giant ice-cube was giving me a hickey! After about 10 minutes I went numb. No feeling whatsoever.

I laid on this huge coach like thing and was offered to watch Netflix, but I politely declined and instead used the downtime to take a nap! I did four sessions of coolsculpting. Both sides of my love handles as well as my back. My love handles wrapped around my side and went into my back causing a bit of back fat, so I had two sessions on my back. Each machine session lasted 35 minutes. I went in at 1:30 p.m and was out the door by 4:00 p.m.

Post Op:

Literally there is no downtime!!!!! I took some Tylenol, arnica, and bromelain beforehand as well as after, and I was totally fine. I didn’t bruise. The area was a bit red for a couple of weeks and it took about 4 weeks before I could feel my sides again (felt numb for 4 weeks). I drove myself home and went about my usual day and activities. How awesome is that?!

You see the most results 2-4 months after having the procedure done. Patience is a virtue here. That’s the only downside to coolsculpting in my opinion. I’m an instant gratification kind of gal. I like to see instant results. I’m satisfied with what I see so far though. These are pictures David took of me before and after. Right at the 4 weeks mark. I’ll update again at the 4 months mark, so we can really see if I have more significant improvement.

Back side you can see before how far out my love handles went…

I have struggled with a muffin top since high school it’s just a stubborn area of fat for me. I’m excited for Spring and Summer now! If you have any questions regarding the procedure please don’t hesitate to contact me either through email or Snapchat (for the fastest response). I love being open and honest about the things I do, so don’t ever feel embarrassed to reach out to me with any questions you may have about any of the procedures I’ve had done.
