I love my BeautyBlender! I’ve tried so many dupes, and nothing even compares to how amazing the BeautyBlender is. I purchased the liquid cleanser when I first bought my BeautyBlender. It’s starting to run out now, so I decided to try the solid cleanser and see if it was any better than the liquid cleanser.

*NOTE: I lost the original photos that I did with my pink BeautyBlender, so I took new photos using my new (red) BeautyBlender I got for Christmas (2016). I notice my BB’s usually last about 6-9 months.

 Review:

BeautyBlender $20 USD

What it is:
An edgeless, non-disposable, high-definition cosmetic sponge applicator.
What it does:
The unique shape and exclusive material available only with beautyblender® ensures impeccable, streak-free application with minimum product waste. Use it with primers, foundations, powders, cream blushes, and any other complexion product.
What else you need to know:
Beautyblender features an open cell structure that fills with small amounts of water when wet. This allows the sponge to be “full” so that the makeup product sits on top of the sponge rather than being absorbed, allowing you to use less product every time. When wet, beautyblender doubles in size and becomes even softer, returning to its original size when it air dries. Handcrafted in the USA.

BeautyBlender liquid blendercleanser 5.0 oz $18 USD

What it is:
A sponge and brush cleanser that’s free of dyes and skin irritants.
What it does:
This cleanser supports the integrity of the beautyblender® as it removes excess residue and germs for a clean makeup application. The cleanser’s soothing soy-based, low-suds formula breaks down rapidly making it earth-friendly, while the light lavender scent makes it fun to use.

How to use:

  • Wet your beautyblender or makeup brushes.
  • Apply a dime-sized amount of liquid blendercleanser to solid areas of beautyblender.
  • Work into lather, rinse, and repeat if necessary. Squeeze to remove excess water.
  • Great for pre-soaking to clean stubborn stains.
  • Set beautyblender or makeup brushes out to dry.

I always wash my BeautyBlender after every use.

Here’s my Beauty Blender after 1 use. I used it for my foundation and to set my under eye area with powder.

And here it is after. Pretty squeaky clean.

What I like about the cleanser:
It gets it really clean especially when you let it presoak.

What I don’t like:
It takes more than a dime sized amount to clean. It takes me a quarter size to really get my BeautyBlender clean.

I HATE cleaning my makeup brushes with the liquid cleanser. I found it makes my brushes dry and rough feeling.

BeautyBlender blendercleanser solid $16 USD

After cleaning…

What I like about the cleanser:
It’s really good for cleaning brushes. When it comes to cleaning brushes it cleans a lot better than the liquid cleanser. It’s not as messy as the liquid too.

What I don’t like:

It took me a lot of swirling around to try to clean my BeautyBlender and even then it didn’t fully clean it. There’s still some stains on it, so I’m going to have to pre soak it now with the liquid cleanser.

 Overall Thoughts:

One thing I noticed with the red BeautyBlender as opposed to the pink one is it bleeds out the color. MY BEAUTYBLENDER WAS RED BUT NOW IT’S ORANGE! I never had that problem with my pink one. Odd.

The BeautyBlender solid is $16 while the liquid cleanser is $18, so not too much of a price difference. However $16 for something I’m going to only use as a brush cleaner seems pricey. Sephora has their own brush cleaner that’s very similar and half the price.

I’m going to say based on how much cleaner my BeautyBlender looks that the liquid cleanser is the way to go when it comes to cleaning my beloved BeautyBlender.
